TRE RIFLESSIONI ARMONICHE IN MINIATURA
Concept: The creative process of this piece starts with the deconstruction of three chords of 20th-century harmony: the famous one from Igor Stravinsky's "Danses des adolescentes" from “Le sacre du printemps"; the finale of Salome's death sentence from Richard Strauss's opera; and a hypnotic chromatic chord from the fifth movement of Alban Berg's "Lyrische Suite." These chords, considered as decontextualized sonic masses within essential, miniature harmonic procedures, have been explored within a multiset of percussions, pitched and unpitched.
The piece is commissioned by the Accademia Filarmonica Romana and designed for a concert program featuring soloist Fabio Cuozzo, including works by Xenakis, Cage, Natali, and Smadbeck.
