Totale is the story of a love that has ended. It is a farewell letter written on a receipt: endless, infinite, filled with objects, memories, tears, and coffee stains. A real receipt, meters and meters long. A relationship deconstructed through the small purchases of everyday life, all the trinkets that surrounded a story, a couple, in the impossible attempt to break down and assign value to every moment together, and to make sense of the ending. A necessarily incomplete, partial, and painful list. All that remains is a heap of things, with our thoughts and memories around them.
It is a love story told with two voices. It begins with a coffee, like almost all stories. It ends with a total. On stage, him and her. He will proceed, with a thermal receipt printer, to print out his side of the story: a receipt meters long, listing all the purchases made together as a couple. For each item on the list, there is a short tale. Through the stories of these objects, the importance of small moments will emerge: the regret of a shared past, and his perspective on the ending. She will react to the receipt, and gradually take hold of the narration, overturning it. The receipt is inevitably an incomplete and biased list, which omits and cannot encompass the whole reality, being only his point of view. By bringing the two perspectives together, they will try to reach an impossible synthesis: to give a total to their story.
