The CANTICO DEI CANTICI is a text of incomparable beauty: a dramatic idyll, a love song constantly poised between the sacred and the profane, between prayer and carnality, between earthly abyss and celestial elevation.
On the occasion of the opening of its concert season at the Teatro Argentina, the Accademia Filarmonica Romana presents a new and special production in which the Canticum Canticorum by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina will be interwoven with pieces specially commissioned from the composer Francesco Leineri, who is also the author of the textual component, consisting of his reworkings of fragments drawn from the Hebrew Bible, Sappho, Apollinaire, Pablo Neruda, and Juan de la Cruz, with the aim of creating a new and unprecedented combination of this universal song of love.
