Description: Community Opera is a project of the L'Albero Company recognized by the Ministry of Culture within the framework of Music Promotion for Social Cohesion and Inclusion. Through the tool of CO-CREATION and the language of opera, Community Opera focuses on artistic and cultural accessibility. Through workshops and short residencies meeting with different deaf communities in Italy, artists Alessandra Maltempo (director); Consuelo Agnesi (LIS performer); Chiara Osella (mezzo-soprano); Francesco Leineri (composer); and Andrea Ciommiento (playwright) investigate the relationship between sound and gesture, score and movement, singing and vibrations, signs and dramaturgy, visual art and LIS (Italian Sign Language), leading to the composition of music and words that result in the creation of an Opera accessible to both deaf and hearing audiences together.
